A few positives to automatic voting is the efficiency of the process it is much quicker to cast and count the votes. The votes are more acturate because in the hole punching system some of the holes didn't get punched all the time so they weren't counted.

A negative is the possiblity of hacking the system. The Governments computer networks have been hackers before and the same could happen to the electronic ballots and change the vote.

  2. A precinct is a voting district. Since state laws restrict their size, precincts are the smallest geographic units for conduct of elections. A polling place, located in or near each precinct, is the place where voters that live in the precinct actually vote. The precinct board opens and closes the polls are open by times set by state laws. (usually 7:00/8:00am-7:00-8:00pm.)
There are Poll Watchers, one from each party, that supervise people voting. They may challenge any person they believe is not qualified to vote, check to be sure that their own party's supporters do vote, and monitor the whole process, including the counting of ballots.

  3. The constitution gives Congress the power to fix "the Times, Places, and Manner of holding Elections" of members of Congress. Congress also has the power to set the time of choosing presidential electors, to set the date for casting electoral votes. On June 25, 2013, the Supereme Court repealed Section 4 of the voting rights act, which required certain parts of the country to clear changes in voting laws with federal courts. 51% percent of people disagreed with the decision, but the Constitution says that the power of voting falls with the states, not federal government.

  4. Early voting has positive effects and negative effects and has changed some things about running for office. Early voting was originally started by congress in the civil war so federal soldiers could cast their vote; most states have adopted early voting from this. early voting has now "supposed' to be for people who know they are unable to vote on voting day like disabled, sick, out of town etc. But for the most part now any voter can get one. This hurts some candidates in the sense they have to change their tactics in the beginning to hook early voters on them over the other candidate. This especially happens in the "battleground states" or also referred to as the swing states. This clip will give an example of the swing states early voting creates a problem for campaigns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMN2EDC172o
